Routine

Routine has become very important for Rogue.

Every day while I’m cooking lunch Rogue will sing the “Who came to school today” song and naming herself and me in the song. When lunch is ready, she announces,  “come and eat!” then she grabs forks for everybody. She can’t sit down unless her little sister is wearing a bib, even if it means going down to the laundry room to search for one. After lunch she washes her hands, uses the toilet and then puts on a pullup for the bus.  Next she will get dressed; shirt, pants, socks, boots, jacket and backpack in that order. Rogue will get quite upset if she discovers that her toque and mittens aren’t already in her backpack.

In the afternoon Rogue hops off the bus, comes in the door and hugs her little sister. Then undresses in the same order and shows me whats in her backpack before heading straight to the fridge. Then she sings the “Who came to school today” song and names everyone who was there at school that day.

Bedtime is shockingly smooth and easy now that we have a routine. Potty, toothbrush, bottle, and a tuck into bed. I say goodnight the same way every night with Rogue prompting me before every sentence.

5am this morning

5 am. Rogue wakes up.  Screams for an hour and a half for reasons unknown. What finally gets her to stop? GlowDoodle! The best $25 I’ve ever spent. It glows in 3 colours. Rogue will only use red.
